The Bergen County Cancer Coalition is currently working on the following activities:
Skin Cancer:
- Distribute and promote the viewing of the DVE, "Dark Side of the Sun" by middle school and high school age youth.
- Educate members, parents and youth about the Tanning Salon Law effective November, 2006, what states youth under 14 years are banned from using tanning beds and youth 14-17 years must have parental permission to use tanning beds.
- Offer skin cancer screenings at Walk At Work Day locations.
- Host "Kick Your Way to Health" an event held in conjunction with the Red Bulls major league soccer team for underserved populations education participants about skin and lung cancers.
Prostate Cancer:
- Educate professionals and community members about prostate cancer and other men's health issues including cultural diversity and clinical trials.
- Collaborate with agencies conducting prostate cancer screenings.
Oral Cancer:
Collaborate with the multi-county Oral Cancer Initiative promoting oral cancer screening, professional education and prevention education.

Lung Cancer:
- Educate the public about smoking cessation programs, the disease, second hand smoke and smokeless tobacco.
- Conduct an education symposium to Bachelor of Science Nursing students at area-wide colleges and universities.
- Promote trainings concerning clinical trials.
Breast, Cervical and Ovarian Cancers:
- Collaborate with agencies conducting breast, cervical and ovarian cancer screenings.
- Develop and distribute a Calendar of Events for cancer-related events for agencies.
Prevention:
- Develop and/or distribute educational materials for low literacy residents of Bergen County.
