Dennis
McNerney and the Bergen County Department of Health Services recently held its annual prostate cancer screening. On September 23, an estimated 80 men took part in the services sponsored by the Bergen County Cancer Education and Early Detection (CEED) Program in cooperation with

. Men who participated in the event received educational presentations on prostate/colorectal cancer, a two-part prostate cancer screening and a colon cancer screening test.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) recommends that men aged 50 and older get screened for prostate and colorectal cancer. Men with a family history of cancer or other high risk factors should talk with their healthcare professional about starting screening at an earlier age.
The Bergen County CEED program, which is administered by the Department of Health Services, offers free prostate, colorectal, breast and cervical cancer education for
Bergen
County
residents who meet program requirements. The Bergen County CEED program is supported by a grant from the state health department.
