| Concurrently, the children attend a fun, educational program about asthma. The goal for the children is empowerment, knowledge and control of their asthma. The highlight of the program is a puppet show about controlling asthma. |
|
Hands-on activities create an interactive learning experience. This allows the children to practice and become comfortable with the “gadgets and gizmos” (American Lung Association) used to manage their asthma. The children are always encouraged to ask questions.
Sufficient time is always allotted for questions. At the conclusion of the program, the adults complete an evaluation form and in return receive a resource packet. The evaluation provides the Advisory Committee with information necessary for ongoing program improvement.
The children join the adults following the concurrent sessions. As the parent returns the evaluation, the child receives a “goody bag” that includes an interactive asthma workbook.
